HAH to purchase 64 Slice CT scanner with Cardiac capabilities

Hillsboro Area Hospital has committed to purchase the SOMATOM Sensation 64 slice scanner with cardiac capabilities from Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. for the diagnostic Imaging Department. This advanced technology will be the first Siemens 64-slice CT scanner within 50 miles of the hospital.

“The new CT scanner should arrive shortly after the first of the year. Our new CT scanner will provide us with outstanding diagnostic information by enabling us to perform Multi-slice CT on a routine basis,” said Radiologist, Dr. Patricia Whitworth.

“For example, we can now scan geriatric, pediatric and trauma patients in a single breath hold, which results in more accurate diagnosis while also reducing examination time and increasing patient comfort. It allows us to take care of our patients in the best way and in a patient friendly environment.”

The SOMATOM Sensation also allows Hillsboro Area Hospital to expand diagnostic services to substantially more patients in the region than ever before.
